Parents, this is another opportunity to drop off your kids and join the zendo! We’ll meet in the backyard of Arnold Park, near the community space at 8:20 a.m.; you’ll be able to pick up your children in the same place at 10:30 after the sitting. Since we anticipate a wide range of ages, please RSVP by Friday evening to help us plan accordingly. You can RSVP by emailing Chris Maley (firstname.lastname@example.org). Also, if you would like to be on our Youth and Family Program’s email list, let Chris know.
The Rochester Zen Center’s Youth and Family Program meets on select Sundays from 8:30-10:30 am. Starting in March 2022, and for the next few months, we will be focusing on the Ten Paramitas: Generosity, Moral Conduct, Renunciation, Wisdom, Energy, Patience, Truth, Determination, Loving-Kindness, and Equanimity. For each scheduled Sunday we will review one of these paramitas and engage in learning activities related to it. The program includes activities such as a greeting circle, altar set-up, meditation, chanting, story-telling, crafting, games, and unstructured play.
We welcome children of all ages. Children who are four-years-old or older may be dropped off, with parents invited to sit in the zendo during Sunday services. Children under four-years-old must be accompanied by a parent at all times. Families are welcome to stay for our community brunch afterwards.
