Kadi Sprengle

We just got news that former staff member Kadi Sprengle passed away this morning, Friday, December 30. She was on staff for 10 years in the 2000’s and was a member of the Chicago Zen Center before that. There will be a memorial service at 11:00 tomorrow morning, Saturday, December 31, for anyone who would like to attend. The service will also be broadcast from the zendo on Zoom.

One Last Reminder: Join Us for New Year’s Eve 2022

If you’d like to start the new year fueled by zazen, come join with others in the Sangha for our annual New Year’s eve celebration at the Center tomorrow night. We’ll welcome in 2023 on Saturday evening with sitting and ceremonies, starting at 8:00 p.m. and winding up a little past midnight (with eggnog of course!). The ceremony (and sitting) will also be streamed on Zoom. For the many members who join in, it’s an inspiring way to start the year out right. Here is the schedule.

Also, please note that there will be no formal sitting at the Center tomorrow morning, December 31, but you can always join the zoom sitting at 7:00 a.m. On Sunday, January 1, there will be no formal sittings at Arnold Park, Chapin Mill, or on Zoom.

DepreshZen, Saturday, December 31, 3 p.m.

DepreshZen is a support and advocacy group for Sangha members with depression and anxiety disorders. We meet approximately every two weeks, alternating between Saturday afternoons and Monday evenings.

If you’re interested in participating or have any questions, please contact Iriz Robles or Tom Kowal.
