Online Workshop at the Center: a practical introduction to Zen

In-person full-day introductory workshops  have been suspended since March of last year, but we are now offering an online introduction taught by the Abbot, Roshi Bodhin Kjolhede (pronounced “coal-heed”), and his senior students. Because beginning in Zen isn’t as simple as deciding to attend a new church on Sunday, the introductory workshop is aimed at providing a useful introduction to Zen Buddhism, demystifying the religion and giving basic instruction on how to practice zazen (Zen meditation). It’s a unique opportunity to learn first-hand from seasoned practitioners at one of the country’s largest and oldest Zen centers. Online workshops are scheduled on Saturdays via Zoom. They  begin at 10:00 a.m. and finish up around 2:30.

Our next workshop is scheduled for Saturday September 18. For these online workshops, we have a  suggested donation of $10 to $30. However, if any amount would be a hardship, you can omit the donation and still attend.
