Saturday Dokusan with John-sensei, October 7

Dokusan is occasionally offered on Saturday mornings to accommodate members who can’t attend regular sittings with dokusan during the week. To participate, take a seat on the left side of the Arnold Park zendo, near the Kannon Room, any time before 10:00 am. An announcement will be made before dokusan begins.

Finding Your Seat (FYS), Saturday, October 7

Trying to get your Zen practice going, but aren’t quite there yet? Or your practice is going, but it isn’t as regular as you’d like it to be?  Still wondering about certain zendo protocols? Or do you have some posture questions? Then FYS is for you!

Finding Your Seat meets online most Saturdays from 11 am to noon. Contact Jissai (jissaip@rzc.org) for Zoom access. Zen 101, a more comprehensive, in-person version of FYS, will be held Saturday October 21. Stay tuned.

Sunday Sitting, October 8, 8:30 am

There will be no teisho this Sunday. Instead, we’ll have three rounds of sitting with kinhin in between, followed by a chanting service. All will be broadcast on Zoom and our audio livestream. Contact Jissai (jissaip@rzc.org) for Zoom access.

Bodhidharma Day Next Week

On Tuesday, October 10, the zendo will be set up for the annual ceremony honoring Bodhidharma, the “bearded barbarian” who is credited as the original founder of the Zen school in China. We’ll sit for two short rounds, and the ceremony will follow (no Private Instruction that night). If you’re unable to attend the ceremony in person, you can tune in via Zoom.

Cleaning Out the Arnold Park Lost & Found

There are several items in Lost & Found (located in the Link coatroom) that have been there for months, if not years. The Head Housekeeper plans to clean out Lost & Found next week, on Friday, October 13. If you think you’ve left something at the Center, now is the time to retrieve it before it disappears next week.
