Sangha Entertainment Night Postponed

Sadly, we have too few acts ready to go for Saturday night, so we’re going to postpone until the “stars” align. In the meantime, if you have an idea for a skit or any other performance, let us know and we can help find collaborators. If we do round up a full bill, we’ll schedule a new date.

Spring 2023 Calendar Is Now Available

A printable quarterly calendar for April, May, and June 2023 is posted on the Center’s website and here. You can also pick up a copy from the table in the Link any time you stop by the Center.

Youth Night in the Zendo. Sangha youth ages 10-15 (and their parents) are welcome to attend an abbreviated block of sitting in the Arnold Park zendo from 6:30-7:00 p.m., with a light snack in the dining room from 7:00-7:30 p.m. We meet in the link at 6:20 p.m. If you would like to attend, please RSVP to Chris Maley.

Hockey Viewing Party. Join our host, Jake Langendorfer, at 7:00 p.m. for the Buffalo at Washington game in the library on the third floor of 5 Arnold Park. Come to the front door and ring the doorbell. You can look forward to pizza and non-alcoholic beer. To attend, please RSVP to Jake.

Cultivate New Skills with Nonviolent Communication

The Center’s weekly Nonviolent Communication (NVC) practice group is reopening to all interested Sangha members. No experience is necessary! The Zoom meetings will resume on Thursday, March 16, and continue until June 8. We’ll be meeting at a new time – non-sesshin Thursdays from 1:00-2:00 EDT – with a simple, beginner-friendly curriculum that requires no homework. For Zen practitioners, NVC offers a practical approach to Right Speech, strengthening our ability to respond more effectively to others and to ourselves, while developing the skill of compassion.

The Center’s NVC group is led by longtime Sangha members and NVC practitioners Anna Belle and Alan Leiserson, alongside their longtime friend and skilled NVC facilitator Fifi Johnson. You don’t have to attend all meetings, although for beginners, it’s helpful to come to as many as possible. Our one request is that you arrive a few minutes early.
Please RSVP for the NVC group here, or email nvc@rzc.org with any questions. We look forward to practicing with you.
