Teisho by Dhara-sensei Tomorrow, Sunday, January 21

Starting 8:30 am in the Arnold Park zendo, we’ll sit one extended round with a bell at the half-way point for posture change, followed by kinhin, a short chanting service, and Sensei’s teisho. As always, you can also join on Zoom or our audio livestream.

Also Tomorrow: Winter Sangha Hike, 12:00 Noon

We’ll hike a 1.8-mile scenic out-and-back trail in Ellison Park. The trail is rated “easy,” but do expect wintery conditions. RSVP to Jake Langendorfer. To carpool, meet on the porch of 5 Arnold Park by 11:30. Otherwise, meet by the Roadside Shelter (coordinates 43.1506, -77.5150) at noon.

Join longtime RZC member Larry McSpadden as he leads a friendly discussion, suitable for newcomers and established members alike, on short selections of Buddhist writings and teachings. Here are the Notes and Quotes that will be discussed tomorrow.

Winter Term Intensive Begins Thursday, January 25

Our Winter 2024 Term Intensive (TI) will be January 25 – March 7. The TI offers a supportive structure in which to increase our practice efforts for a set period. Participants pledge to uphold a schedule of increased sitting and, if they wish, other aspects of discipline that support their Zen practice. Looking Ahead: Extended Sitting, Sunday, January 28

Get a running start on your Term Intensive commitments by attending the upcoming extended sitting. Besides the usual Sunday morning sitting that will run from 8:30 to around 10:30, there will be three other blocks of formal sitting scheduled. Private Instruction will be offered during block 3.
