St. Patrick’s Day Parade This Saturday
If you’re planning to come to Saturday dokusan (10:00 am) or to Finding Your Seat (11:00 am), be advised that our street will be closed off from East Avenue due to the St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Starting at 10:00, East Avenue will be closed for staging of the parade, and it’s not scheduled to reopen until 3:30. You can, however, access Arnold Park from Park Avenue – the one time you can legitimately go “against the stream” and ignore the one-way sign.
It’s also worth mentioning that getting to the Visual Studies Workshop for “Movies and Dharma: A Zen Perspective” could also be problematic. It’s best to access their building, which is at 31 Prince Street, from University Avenue. The show is from 2:00 to 4:00 pm (http://www.vsw.org/screenings/spring-2019-film-series/march-16-movies-dharma-a-zen-perspective/).
Finding Your Seat
We’re starting a new set of “Finding-Your-Seat” sessions, which will run from 11:00 to noon on the following Saturdays: March 16, March 23, April 13, and April 20. Zen practice is simple and direct, but it’s not easy, and establishing a daily sitting practice can be hard. Between Introductory Workshops, we offer these Saturday sessions to help with that.
Anyone who’s attended a Workshop is welcome, whether you’ve become a member yet or not. Sessions are led by senior students, there to answer questions, offer advice and encouragement, and lead a short round of sitting. Give us a call at (585) 473-9180 if you have questions.
