Chapin Mill Work Retreat: June 25 – June 29

Our annual four days of work, zazen, and country living begins with sitting on Tuesday evening and wraps up with lunch on Saturday. All members, trial members, friends, and families, including children, are welcome! Let us know what times you’d like to be there, so we can plan for you. If you’d like to stay overnight, let us know and you can count on a room and a bed. There’s no fee for the work retreat (although donations for food are welcome).

Please consider pitching in for this once-a-year event. This is our chance to accomplish many of the tasks at Chapin Mill for the whole year.

Here’s a link to more information and the daily schedule.

Jonathan Hager and Rebecca Gilbert: Election Results

The ballots for the trustee election were counted and the result announced at the Annual Meeting: incumbent Jonathan Hager retains his trustee seat.

Book Club: A Change in Plans

Instead of discussing The Path of Compassion at the next book meeting (Sunday, June 23, 6:30 pm, in Roshi’s Library), the book club will dive into Sudama Ngo’s two Zen Bow articles: Just Money and Commitment, the Gift of Pain. As always, you don’t have to read everything to come to book club! Just read what you can and come for discussion (and snacks). Also, feel free to invite other people.

Rainbow Sangha Meeting Sunday, June 23

Rainbow Sangha, the group for LGBTQIA+ Sangha members, will meet from 4:00-5:30 pm on Sunday, June 23, in Roshi’s Library. If turnout is very large, we will move to the Community Room. This “member meeting” will be limited to people who are themselves part of the LGBTQIA+ community, although parents or guardians of Rainbow Sangha members under 18 are welcome to attend with their children if they wish. For questions or to be added to the private Rainbow Sangha mailing list, please email Angela at hakkila@wisc.edu.
