No Dokusan Tonight or Next Week

Roshi left town this morning and will be in Florida for a week, establishing a beachhead; once he’s back however, he won’t return to the “Sunshine State” until November. The next dokusan he offers will be Monday night, June 14th.

Likewise, because Sensei John Pulleyn will be in sesshin, the next Tuesday night dokusan will be June 15th.

Joining the 5-day Sesshin (June 4-9)

The regular schedule of morning and evening Zoom sittings is cancelled during sesshin. However, as a reminder to those who are not attending sesshin, you are welcome to join any parts of the sesshin (though without dokusan). If you do, please enter before a block of sitting begins or during a kinhin so as to minimize distraction. Likewise, if you cannot stay for the entire block of sitting, exit Zoom during one of the kinhins whenever possible. Here is the schedule so you know what times to enter and join (the rounds are 35 minutes long with a 7-minute kinhin in between). Note: The sesshin (including teishos) will NOT be broadcast on the Center’s audio-livestream (Mixlr) but will be streamed on Zoom only.

The regular Zoom sittings will resume Thursday morning (7:00–8:00), June 10.

The regular schedule of in-person sittings at the Arnold Park zendo will continue over the weekend and next week, except for Thursday, June 10. You can always refer to the Zen Center’s calendar for an accurate schedule of sittings (in-person and Zoom).

Finding Your Seat cancelled

Finding Your Seat (11:00 am – noon) is also cancelled Saturday, June 5, because of the 5-day sesshin. We will resume Saturday, June 12.

Youth Group is Back!

We are excited to announce that our first Youth Group programming in over year will be on Sunday, June 13th at 8:30. We will meet in the backyard of Arnold Park, near the community space. Parents, you are welcome to drop off your kids with us and take advantage of the zendo. We are anticipating a wide range of ages, so to help us plan accordingly, please RSVP to Chris Maley: cmaley2@gmail.com. Also, if you would like to be on our Youth and Family Program’s email list, let Chris know.
