Unclaimed Shoes, Coats, and Other Items
We recently did a vast sweep of unclaimed clothing in both Arnold Park buildings. All unclaimed shoes, boots, coats, and sweaters from the link coat room, 5 Arnold Park entrance area, and shoe cubby holes near the zendo are now in the basement laundry room of 7 Arnold Park.
Additionally, unclaimed items on the shelves in the link coatroom are now in the housekeeping office on a folding table. If you think you left anything here at the Center, please look in the laundry room or housekeeping office. The deadline to pick these items up is Wednesday, August 7; after that date, they’ll be donated to charity.
Rainbow Sangha Member Meeting, Sunday, July 14
The Center’s Rainbow Sangha group will have its next meeting on Sunday, July 14, from 4:00 to 5:30 pm in Roshi’s Library. This meeting will be a member-only meeting for people who self-identify as part of the LGBTQIA+ community. A note for allies: ally participation is invited at specific upcoming meetings called “open meetings,” dates TBA. For more information, or if you have questions, please contact Angela Häkkilä at hakkila@wisc.edu.
Esther Gokhale Workshops, Friday, July 19
Esther Gokhale, creator of the Gokhale Method and author of 8 Steps to a Pain-Free Back, will be offering two programs on Friday, July 19, both of which will take place at Arnold Park.
The first of these is an all-day Pop-Up Course in the Community Room from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm. The Pop-Up Course is a new offering that provides an in-depth introduction to Gokhale Method techniques, including hands-on feedback and use of SpineTracker wearable tech. Participants also receive a Stretchsit Cushion, a PDF of 8 Steps to a Pain-Free Back, and a 30-minute online follow-up session with a Gokhale Method teacher. The class size is capped at 20 to ensure an excellent teacher-to-student ratio. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn gentle, effective techniques to reduce and prevent back and neck pain with the method’s founder herself, plus an additional qualified teacher. The Pop-Up Course is a paid event. Please visit the following link for more information and to register: Rochester Pop-Up Course.
Esther is also generously offering a Free Workshop at the Center from 8:00 pm-9:00 pm the same day. This event will include techniques for healthy, sustainable meditation postures. All Sangha members are invited to attend. The Free Workshop will take place in the zendo, and there will be no formal sitting on Friday evening.
For more information on either of these events, please contact events@gokhalemethod.com.
