Roshi’s CoronaCast, August 12
Founder’s Day and Extended Sitting, Sunday, August 16
This Sunday will be our annual remembrance of Roshi Philip Kapleau, Founder of the Rochester Zen Center. The schedule will be much the same as other Sundays: sitting via Zoom or the audio stream from 8:30 – 9:20 am, followed by a recorded teisho from Kapleau-roshi. Under normal circumstances, there is a display at the Center – numerous photos of Kapleau-roshi spanning his Zen career. For this year, we have photos posted online from his 13 years in Japan.
There is also an extended sitting on that day (6:15 am – 3:30 pm). You can find more details here.
Sesshin Dates
The October 5-day sesshin will begin Friday evening, October 2, and end Wednesday afternoon, October 7. You can see upcoming sesshins and apply online here.
Seeing Through Racism Meeting
The next meeting of the Seeing Through Racism group will be Sunday, August 23, at 12:30 PM EDT. We will be using the Zen Center’s Zoom account, so it’s the same meeting ID and password as we use for sittings and sesshin. Trueman will be hosting, so if you have questions about how to access the Zoom account, please email him at trueman@rzc.org. Everyone is welcome.
